Magazine ‘Hmeljar – Hop Grower’ (ISSN 1318-6183) is published by the Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing (in Slovene language). The magazine, which has been in circulation since 1935, is considered the oldest professional agricultural publication in Slovenia, with one or two issues published annually. Since 2008, the magazine has also been made available online and can be accessed through the Institute’s website.
The content of the magazine focuses on the latest developments in the field of hops for the current year, including expert contributions, advice on the cultivation of hops and medicinal and aromatic plants, photo chronicles, reports, and other related topics. While most of the contributions are authored by IHPS collaborators, some papers by external authors are also published. The editorial board comprises of IHPS experts and a specialist in hops at the Agricultural Chamber. Ms. Martina Zupančič was the editor for a significant duration (1992-2014); since 2014, the editor has been Barbara Čeh, PhD.
