Research and EU Projects at IHPS
Basic research projects (source: ARIS) involve experimental or theoretical work undertaken primarily to acquire new knowledge about the fundamental principles of phenomena and observable facts.
Applied research projects (source: ARIS) involve original research undertaken to acquire new knowledge, primarily directed towards a specific practical objective or purpose. They comprise planned research or critical investigation aimed at acquiring new knowledge with the objective of applying such knowledge to the development of new products, processes or services, or to introducing significant improvements to existing products, processes or services. Applied research projects are funded up to 75% of the eligible project costs. Applicants for applied research projects must secure at least 25% of the eligible project costs from other interested entities.
Targeted Research Programmes (hereinafter: CRP; sources: Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy etc.) are designed as a system of interministerial cooperation for planning and implementing networked research and development projects in specific areas of public interest. They represent a specific form of scientific research programme through which ARRS, in cooperation with other ministries and other project funders, seeks to contribute to the formulation and implementation of Slovenia’s strategic development objectives and thereby improve the country’s competitiveness. Research conducted within CRP is target-oriented and problem-driven, focusing on improving Slovenia’s competitiveness as a basis for the country’s successful development. The purpose of CRP is to ensure targeted research.
