Kratek življenjepis
Magda Rak Cizej, PhD, did her graduation thesis in the field of agronomy at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana (BF), Agronomy Department, in 1999 and became a doctor of science in 2006 at the same faculty, with the doctoral thesis: Interaction between hop flea beetle Psylliodes attenuatus and host plants. During postgraduate studies and since then she has been working at the Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing (IHPS). Today, she is the head of the Plant Protection Department.
She works on the prognosis system for pests, especially pests in hop production and advises on plant protection based on integrated pest management (IPM). She is national coordinator for quarantine pests, specifically the American grapevine leafhopper (Scaphoideus titanus) and potato flea beetle (Epitrix spp.). She is responsible for the plant health of mother plants in hop gardens and for hop seedlings. She is coordinator of the implementation of official biological experiments in accordance with good experimental practice (GEP) and carries out insecticide trials in hops, field crops production, horticulture, orchards and vineyards.
